lazydoll
Born in 2005, rapper/producer lazydoll began making music in 2018 and quickly gained attention within the digicore scene that flourished on SoundCloud. In 2024, he co-founded the collective tmjclub with close collaborator okudakun, becoming one of the earliest figures in Japan to reinterpret underground beats such as plugg and jerk through his own lens. He has also released collaborations with emerging rappers including Siero, Number Collector, and yve, operating behind the scenes as a key player in shaping a new wave of the scene.

Lately I’ve been really into this kind of scene, so I’ve had it on repeat. It has a warm feeling to it.
2. What do you usually listen to on the train?
死んだ僕の彼女 – 12gatsu, poolside, ukabu shitai
Trains are usually a bit overwhelming for me, but once I realized that Japanese shoegaze calms me down the most, I started listening to it every time. This song always reminds me of the view from the Seibu Shinjuku Line.
3. When your thoughts won’t stop, what song brings you back to reality?
Number Collector – Evidence
I’m saved by the looseness of Number Collector. It puts me in a place that’s neither pessimistic nor optimistic.

2003 Toyota Corolla – 2011 Toyota Corolla
Gentle harmony and low-drone sounds without too much high end help me sleep the best.

No matter when I listen to it, it always hits hard.
7. If you had to describe your personality with a song, which would it be?
Lil Ugly Mane – bird enemy car
This is the song that conveyed emotions beyond words most clearly for me. It feels like staying inside a comfortably absurd state the whole time.
8. A song you want to hear before going into the studio?
Kiryano, Acid Souljah – count up
It seriously gets me fired up.
9. When you feel like giving up, what song still makes you look forward?
antihoney – Dendrite (Demo Ver.)
This is a truly important song to me. It’s helped me so many times.
10. A song you’d like to listen to on a Sunday morning?
宇宙ネコ子 – 君のように生きれたら
It feels refreshing, with a sense of nostalgia somewhere in it.
11. Finally, tell us one thing lazydoll wants most.
I’m greedy, tbh I want everything, but if I had to choose just one thing, it might be peace. I swing too much between highs and lows, and that can be fun in its own way, but I’m starting to get tired of it. Right now, I want to reach a more neutral place. I want to live with a balance that’s neither overthinking nor being too careless, just the right amount.
